Director's Notes:
I have always been an avid reader and Ms. Burnett's books have long been my favorites. This story especially I was fond of, I mean who wouldn't want to be a princess. I also remember watching Shirley Temple play the title role in the first film adaptation of the book...and let's be honest...I wanted to be Shirley Temple. This is a timeless story, one of overcoming your lot in life and remaining true to yourself. That is the theme for this season in CHStage. I am so very proud of the kids you see on stage before you. Each year I lose several of my babies and every year I get a few new ones who find themselves in my heart. I am fortunate to have the honor of watching these kids grow. They inspire me. These kids are so very hardworking, talented and dedicated and the program reaps the benefit. Thank you to the audience, many of you who are the family of these students, for lending me these individuals and allowing us to create art. I hope you will all enjoy this presentation and will return to us in the spring for Tarzan!
“If nature has made you a giver, your hands are born open, and so is your heart. And though there may be times when your hands are empty, your heart is always full, and you can give things out of that.”
― Frances Hodgson Burnett
